• NEIGHdlepoint was one of 60 designs chosen from over 400 artist entries in Horsemania.

• 2022 will mark the third time Horsemania has been on the streets of Lexington. No other public arts initiative in Lexington has captured the hearts of visitors as has Horsemania! It was first here in 2000 and then again in 2010 as part of the World Equestrian Games.

• 60 life-size fiberglass horses will be displayed during the summer and fall of 2022 on the streets of downtown Lexington (known as the Horse Capital of the World). Horsemania will conclude with the 2022 Breeders Cup World Championships to be held at Historic Keeneland Racecourse.

• Several of the fiberglass horses began arriving in Lexington in late February. Artists have approximately 6 weeks to complete their horse. We have not received our horse yet and don’t expect it for several weeks.

• While the majority of the Horsemania horses will be outside, NEIGHdlepoint will be stabled in an indoor location

Here’s part of the narrative we submitted to the artistic judges for Horsemania 2022:

“In the style of French artist Frederique Morrel, Kentucky artists Donna Lynn Eads and Mike Cooper present ‘NEIGHdlepoint’, an equestrian creation using vintage and new needlepoint.

Several hundred needlepointers from all over the world will stitch jockey silk squares honoring Kentucky Derby, Bluegrass Stakes and Breeders Cup winners along with famous Kentucky horse farms which will be meticulously incorporated into this piece of art.”
